Are You Kidding Me?

I saw this posted on a Christian college website:

"Unfortunately, Satan doesn’t want you to choose a Christian college. He wants to control your future."

I don't even know where to start with this. What this school is communicating is that God wants you to go to a Christian college. Really? I went to a public college, made some incredible friends and met my wife who is a Christian. I don't have any problem with someone choosing to go to a Christian college, but let's don't use religion to sell or guilt someone into choosing a school. In my opinion this statement is way out of bounds. To be honest, being in full-time ministry did more damage to me than any public college ever could.

Yeah, i know what college that is and unfortunately I had friends go there and have horror stories to tell about it. (Those friends left after the first year or so and transferred to other colleges)

It's sad what some people do in the name of Christianity and religion..

It's sad that a college is using that as a recruitment technique.

It sounds like something my Christian college would have said. I am still embarrassed that I stayed at that legalistic place.

I'm having to hold myself back...

That's crazy! They would be leaning a little to heavy on the "coming out of the world" verse and not enough on the "go forth" verses. The sad thing is that they would think they are doing the right thing to steer people on the right course....

I'm with you... pretty ridiculous. I completed the first half of my college education in a snotty, LIBERAL, non-Christian-and-proud-of-it sort of school and the second half in a straight-laced, Bible-believing, Christian university. The Christian friends that I made at the first seemed much more real, much more genuine than those at the Christian school. I love both groups, but I wonder if being forced to stand up for your beliefs in a place that is not friendly to Jesus might be a good thing for your faith. I know it was for mine. Thanks for the post.
